Issue:

After removing legacy versions of PowerMill from a PC, NC programs are not able to be written.

Causes:

The two possible reasons for the error 'Failed to get translator from registry' are as follows:
  1. When using an option file with a *.pmoptz extension, PowerMill needs to use the latest Autodesk Manufacturing post processor Utility.
  2. When using an olderDuctpost style*.opt extension, no Ductpostpost processor was installed.

Solution:

If using a PMOPTZ(*.pmoptz) Option File do the following:

  1. Make sure that a version of the Autodesk Manufacturing post processor Utility is installed.
  2. Go to Start>All Apps>Programs>Autodesk Manufacturing post processor Utility XXXX. Where XXXX denotes the latest version.
  3. Select Make Manufacturing Post Processor Utility XXXX the current version
  4. Restart PowerMILL.

If using an older Ductpost style OPT(*.opt) files do the following:

  1. Install a version of Ductpost,Version 16.10 is recommended.
  2. Restart PowerMILL.
